Yes it is very much possible..I hope you are saying that you need to get ytd based on the input of 0calmonth/year .
Lets say for eg:if user enters 08.2013 then in YTD you need to get the data from 01.2013 to 08.2013.

In the above document i have taken Fiscal year period that you need to replace with 0calmonth
And also you need to take care of the offset length for calyear..It will be 0 to 4.
